Project 2 Critique – Value

1. How is value used in the composition? (Creates 3-d, use of light and dark, mood, contrast). Be specific, if value missing or weak include that also.

I think that value is used very well in this picture. Light coming from the upper left corner really added calmness to this piece. I also noticed the movement of light from darker to lighter really makes the picture look very realistic. I love the way you implemented high contrast in this picture. I liked that the mood in the picture was playful and the way you demonstrated that was by lightness portrayed on the one side of the picture. Overall value played a key role in making this piece very interesting I liked it a lot.

2.  Project  2 Critique – Texture

What role does texture have in the composition? (Detail, pattern, space, and/or design). Be specific, if texture missing or weak include that also.

Well I definitely see texture in this picture in the way of space. The space is definitely filled with the different pictures. I don’t really see how they link together and the texture in detail is not very apparent. Maybe the pictures could have used a bit more detail to make the piece more interesting.  I don’t really see a pattern in this picture other than everything being green. The shape in the upper right corner of a little girl walking with shopping bags looks like flat texture, and added depth to this piece. I love the way you did this. Text also played a big part to add texture to the picture. In the long run texture was very subtly used in this picture.

3.  Project 2 Critique – Color

How is color used in the overall composition? Which colors dominate which reinforce the concept? How is color value used in composition?  Be specific and use terms related to color.

Color is used in this composition to add value and perception and the intensity of green is really apparent. The dominant color in this piece is definitely green.  I really don’t see a lot of originality in this picture not very interesting. The use of only the one color made the picture look bland. I think that the incorporation of more colors could have really made this picture more fun.

3.  Project  2 Critique – Personal Perspective 1

How effectively was the concept of “green-ness” explored? Do you think that this student used the elements of value, texture and color effectively to enhance the concept, how did the branding of the song interplay if at all? 

The concept of “green-ness” was definitely used in this picture. The way he showed the ocean and sky and animals really gave the realm of tranquility and the text in the picture noted the need to not only think about one self but also of the things around us. The value in the picture in the form of lightness gave this picture calmness and gave a sense of freshness. The song in my opinion interplayed in the picture with the message the piece gave.

Project 2 Critique – Personal Perspective 2

3.  What do you think of the quality of the design and composition?  Would this design work well as a billboard or for multi-purpose advertising?  Does the concept of sustainability as far as water the strongest focus of the piece?, Please explain in detail.

I think that the quality and design of this picture portrays a lot of depth. It speaks with the pictures and how there put together. I think value was very adequately used to focus on the water which is definitely the strongest piece. This design would work excellently as a billboard because it’s straight to the point in delivering the message of water conservation. It is beautifully put together and its meaning is unmistakable. I think this picture is awesome, I really liked it.

I think that the quality of the design is a bit confusing. Though after very in depth analyzation at a second look I see the the use of space to focus on the center shape of the skate which is the main focus. The inner pictures are a bit hard to distinguish but seem to be people rollerskating and different kinds of rollerskates add creativity. I think this piece was very well though out in the way it used the pictures inside the roller state and the L looking shape to imply the line of the rollerskate. The shape of the piece defenitly  stands out with the use of the plain colors in the negative space. I give this piece alot of perks for it’s creativity and uniqueness. Very nice work.

I think that this student was very effective in communicating the concept of transportation in this piece. It is very obvious when you see a train, moving stair case, and people walking to think of the idea of movement or getting around. I don’t see where the word connection comes into the picture what is the message behind that. I think that modes of transportaion are a bit plain. There dosen’t seem to be alot of thought or depth to this piece. Nothing really stands out and grabs your attention which gives it a boring feel. I think maybe if a little bit more creativity could really give this piece more apeal. Overall the student potrayed transportaion very effectivley. Good job.

How is shape used in the composition? 2-d, 3-d, grouping of shapes, etc. How were elements of shape used to optimum effect in composition? If shape was not effective give reasons.

Shape is potrayed by the student in form of three demensional imaginary shadows of people and surroundings. The student’s use of 3-d effects on the joggers and participants in this meet potrays depth and volume. The student excellently postioned every object in this picture to gives it a movie like feel of movement. It is a very smart piece very stratigically positioned. I like it very much.

How is line used in the composition? Contour, types of line, emotion or texture effectively used (describe where and how within the composition).
How were elements of line used to optimum effect in composition? If line was not effective give reasons.

I think that line in this composition is used to convey the brightness and boldness in the different sizes and shapes very distingtively patterned with eachother. The optimum effect of elements of line used in this piece focus seems to be the center with black small circles all lined up seem to give an explosion all other shapes going in all ways yet still very uniformly grouped. The lines in this project are very expressive the sizes and colors used give the piece a loud strong feeling. I think that line was very effective in this project and made it very apealing and abstract.

How is space used in the composition? (filling the space:concept of Positive/Negative explored. Techniques which may create the illusion of space(which techniques)? How were elements of space used to optimum effect in composition? If space was not effective give reasons.
        I think that this piece is very intresting the space used in the compostion gives a very calming effect. To me the castle seems to be the the positive space in this project. It seems to be encapsulated by an ora or some kind of shining shield. The lightness that surrounds it makes it stand out and gives it a magical look. The color of the clouds and flying carpets really add to the appeal of the focus. The ocean water seems to be sparkling and the angles at which each of the flying carpets are one close up and the other farther away really adds depth to this piece. I think the student used space very effectively to potray her point . I really like this project,  and think this was one of my favorite pieces.
